Especially now that it is sumer here in the Philippines, most of the tourist spots all around the Philippines have been dominated by domestic tourists on vacation, company outing or team building activities.

The growth of domestic tourism has a several important implication in the country, such as:

  1. Can boost the growing middle class population,
  2. Less dependency on foreign income
  3. Boosts tourism industry

The Oxford Group’s reported that the Philippines domestic tourism has been growing much faster by the average of 14%  a year. The report attributes this to the expansion of the budget airlines and the young, adventurous growing middle class Filipino and to the fast growing Business process outsourcing (BPO) industry.

The good thing about tourism is that it’s a nationwide scope, top destinations are spread throughout the country and even all over the world. The benefits of growth are able to reach the countryside which makes tourism can be more significant in our government’s efforts to make economic growth more inclusive.
