MANILA, Philippines--The Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) has said it will release this month an updated directory of the country's business process outsourcing (BPO) companies.
This directory, meant to help chart the growth of country's BPO industry, "will cover every player in the industry today," BPAP chief executive Oscar Sanez said in a telephone interview.
The trade organization estimates that, at present, the BPO industry employs between 400,000 to 500,000. The industry's target is to have a million workers in five years.
Why?
The industry is roughly subdivided into five sub-industries: animation, software development, engineering and design, medical transcription and contact center or call centers.
According to BPAP, this directory, "Offshoring and Outsourcing Directory Philippines 2008," will be a comprehensive list of all the important players in the IT-BPO market in the Philippines along with their contact details and business description. It is being published in collaboration with publishing and imaging-solutions firm Asiatype Inc.
