The last Alex we heard about was an e-book reader by Spring Design. Make room for another Alex, this time a laptop being produced by the Broadband Computer Company.
It looks all classy and nice, with its simple, MacBook-esque exterior, but there’s a catch to this notebook: there’s a monthly fee. Starting at £9.99 ($15), BCC promises Alex is a secure machine, being that users need a USB key (seen in the picture above) to be plugged in before use.
It’s also supposedly easy to use and resistant from malware, being that it runs on a Linux-like, “anti-virus system” with a suite of programs designed specifically for this computer.
The aforementioned fee also includes some unspecified online storage space, but all of that is after the £400 ($615) price tag you have to pay to actually get the machine in the first place.
Here are some other stats to consider if you’re interested:
* 15.4-inch WXGA TFT LCD display (1280 x 800 resolution)
* Intel T1600 Celeron 1.6GHz processor
* 1GB of RAM
* 120GB of storage
* Azurewave AW-GU701 Wireless Lan Card
* Ethernet
* DVD+/-RW drive
* 1.3-megapixel webcam
