Exist, a Filipino-founded open source software engineering company, has announced the latest release of Exist
Maestro, which the firm claims is the first integrated open source build life-cycle platform solution.
In a statement, the company said it made the formal announcement at the Philippine Open Source Summit (POSS) held last week.
The company further said Exist Maestro provides an integrated open source platform that enables comprehensive build
management by integrating Apache Mavens well-defined life-cycle phases, standardized directory layout, and extensible
plug-in framework with Apache Continuum to deliver end-to-end build automation, test execution, project reporting, and site generation.
Apache is a set of Java-based application tools currently gaining popularity among enterprise software developers.
In addition, Exist Maestro also includes support for centralized, hosted repository using Apache Archiva to enable higher
developer productivity, better overall team collaboration, and project coordination.
"With Exist Maestro, any developer team can expect code reliability throughout the development cycle and not just at the release
deadline," Henry Isidro, Exist development manager and Maestro team lead said. "It also facilitates continuous project testing
and integration by providing site reports, automated error notifications, and other compliancy-violations as they actually happen."
Brett Porter, Exist vice president for product development, said Exist Maestro enables developers to access all
source code under the Apache License 2.0 with complete freedom to modify code as required. "With Exist Maestro,
you have access to an active open source development community with no lock-in to any specific vendor." Porter
added that this open source solution is already deployed in Fortune 500 companies which have integrated open
source programs in their enterprise environment.
"For years, Filipinos have been a part of open source projects and are now being given their due recognition,"
said Exist executive chairman Winston Damarillo, who is a strong advocate of the adoption of open source in the
enterprise. "We are proud of our teams accomplishments in the open source arena and wed like to see more
Filipinos actively contributing to open source projects in the future."
