The Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) sector in Mindanao is determined to focus on the appropriate development of Filipino human resources in order for them to be equipped enough to respond to the demands of the global and domestic market.

Awareness of this need sprung from the findings of the labor market intelligence report released recently by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Southern Mindanao. The study showed that the highly critical skills demand from 2006-2010 point to the skills needed for the BPO industry. Statistics yielded a total of 996,504 highly critical skills demand from all sectors; 962,259 of which fall under the BPO industry.

As the Mindanao TVET association has recognized the urgency to take appropriate steps to address this necessity, members are set to convene at the Royal Mandaya Hotel Davao on August 6 - 8, 2008 for the 7th Mindanao TVET Human Resource Skills Development Conference. This gathering will serve as a venue for experts to review and understand the overall effect of globalization on economic competitiveness and educational system as they affect individuals, corporations, and policy makers in Mindanao.
